Dr Gavan Gordon - BDS (Adel)
Gavan attended the University of Adelaide, graduating in 1996 with his Bachelor of Dentistry. His first private practice position was in Whyalla (aka Windy-Alla) where the mercury could peak at 48 degrees in summer!! After four years the family decided a sea change was in order and they headed to Hobart where he joined Bernard as his second dentist at Denticheck on Davey St. He has continued to be an outstanding member of our dental team as the practice has grown and changed.
Gavin enjoys all aspects of modern dentistry including Cosmetic Dentistry and Implantology. He also has a keen interest in Endodontics.
He is a keen photographer when at home and loves taking pictures of his three gorgeous children who feature in his dental surgery every day.
Dr Bob Lavis - BDS (Adel)
Bob was born and grew up in Adelaide, going on to complete a Bachelor of Dental Surgery in the same city. He came to Hobart in 1976 to join a Macquarie Street Private Dental Practice and then travelled and worked overseas from 1978 -1980.
Realising Hobart was a great place to live, Bob set up his own practice in Sandy Bay for many years before joining the Denticheck team in 2003. He enjoys all aspects of restorative dentistry and the results that can be achieved.
Bob takes off each year to India where he works in the Himalayas with other dentists and nurses from around Australia on the Himalaya Spiti Dental Program. He does amazing work for the people and tirelessly raises money all year to go to the communities. One highlight for him was meeting the Dalai Lama a few years ago.
Dr Martin Rose (BDS)
Martin was born and raised in Hobart. Prior to doing dentistry Martin was a hospital scientist at the Royal Hobart Hospital. He studied dentistry as a mature age student and completed his studies at the University of Western Australia in 1995. After a brief stint in the Royal Australian Navy he owned and operated his own successful general dental practices in WA. Both of those practices had a very strong emphasis on prevention and education.
Martin enjoys all aspects of dentistry but in particular seeing healthy disease free well maintained mouths. He has returned home after 17 years to enjoy the lifestyle that Tasmania has to offer. Martin is enjoying getting fit swimming bushwalking and the occasional surf.
Andrea Shoobridge - Dip. Dental Hygiene (Adel)
Andrea has been in the dental industry since she was 15, except for 6 years where she was in the Royal Australian Air Force as a Signals Operator. In 2001, the state legislation changed so that Dental Hygienists could work in Tasmania, and Andrea packed up her family moved to Adelaide and completed the Diploma of Dental Hygiene, graduating with an award in clinical excellence in 2003.
January 2004 Andrea joined our team at Denticheck in Collins Street and instantly became a highly valued and liked member of our staff. She is extremely professional and thorough as well as being a delight to meet.
As well as being passionate about Oral Health, Andrea is also passionate about her horses, and enjoys all aspects of horse riding, and loves nothing more than a long ride in the bush.
Hannah Colantoni - Bachelor of Oral Health (Adelaide)
A local girl, Hannah grew up in Tasmania and attended The Friends’ School in Hobart. She started dental assisting at Denticheck in 2006. During this time, she developed a passion for oral health and went on to complete her Certificate III in Dental Assisting at TAFE, and then a Bachelor of Oral Health. Hannah excelled in her studies, receiving the Clinical Award of 2010
With a sensitive approach for both children and adults alike, Hannah provides excellent care in many hygiene and therapist roles including but not limited to: Periodontal examinations (hard tissue, soft tissue, oral cancer checks), Fluoride Treatments and Full dental examinations – hard tissue, soft tissue, orthodontic examinations in children 0-18 years.
Hannah caught the travel bug at an early age and loves to visit new places and explore new things. She also is a firm believer in the value of strong relationships with family and friends and spends time with them whenever she can. We are delighted to have Hannah return to the Denticheck Family!
